British Council Vacancy : DFID Country Manager

The British Council in Nigeria is looking for a qualified individual to fill the post of an 'DFID Global School Partnerships Country Manager' based in Abuja. Managing the programme against agreed DGSP country plans and budget to achieve new partnerships and grant targets, and submit agreed reports and support the performance of the in-country DGSP Programme Coordinator


Responsibilities:
- Managing programme relationships with Ministry of Education, DFID and VSO offices
- Monitoring programme participation of special needs, girls, minority, and faith schools
- Seek and manage synergy with other relevant internal programmes
- Actively share ideas and solutions to challenging issues with regional and UK DGSP teams
- Contribute to impact assessment through evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of programme services to schools and key stakeholders
- Manage establishment of new partnerships through partner finding and dissemination of programme information.

Timbuktu Media publisher of 234Next, is a new media organization, based in Lagos, Nigeria. As well as a print newspaper, significant emphasis is being placed on the digital offering, via the website and mobile/sms. We are recruiting for the positions below:

Online Content Producer

Report To:

General Role

There is therefore need for a Multimedia Content Producer to plan and generate multi-media (video, audio/podcasts) and user-generated content (UGC) for and other Timbuktu Media digital platforms.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

The duties are as follows:
    Ensure the website is updated as often is required using the proprietary content management system (CMS)
    Support content development, management processes and quality control where required
    Plan, structure, report, and write news and information content for Web sites and other new media platforms
    Produce site content to optimize the user experience by being attentive to live web metrics and UE best practices.
    Enhance the news content with outside links, maps, slideshows.
    Work with other departments, including sales and marketing, as needed on site and station initiatives that require content integration
    Convert new media content to broadcast style.
    Coordinate news editorial and technical staff to facilitate the migration of multi-media content to new media platforms, including video, audio, still photos and graphics
    Will assist in online coverage of major news events, breaking news.
    Build out special sections and site features to enhance coverage and increase site-user engagement
    Manage wire feeds and publish to the web site where appropriate.

Accountabilities

The principal accountable role is to fill www.234NEXT.com with multi-media content (proprietary and UGC) which
a) engages our audiences and
b) drives traffic to the site.

Qualification and experience:

Bachelors degree and training in multimedia production.
Must have aptitude in Adobe Premiere and digital audio editing

Job Attributes

    The Online Content Producer should have at least 2 years professional experience
    Must demonstrate good journalism and writing skills as well as an understanding of current events
    Must understand basic journalism legal principles.
    Must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines and work under pressure
    Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced newsroom environment strongly preferred
    Working knowledge of online content-management systems preferred
    Working knowledge of web-design tools, such as HTML, Flash, ASP.Net, DreamWeaver, JavaScript, Adobe Photoshop, and FTP programs
