The U.S. Embassy in Abuja is seeking to employ a suitable and qualified candidate for
the position of Distribution Clerk in the Public Affairs Section.
Basic Function of the Position:
The incumbent is working under the general direction of PAS Program Management Assistant, he/she discharges support responsibilities for the overall administrative operations of the PAS office. This duties include dispatching, dissemination and receiving of PAS out-going and incoming mails, pouches and parcels; maintainace and operation of office machines, helping to set up venues for PAS programs, periodic delivery of USG poured collections for the American Corners, ordering and issuing expendable supplies or other office requirements.
Position Requirements

  1. Completion of Secondary School education is required.
  2. Minimum of two years of experience working in an office environment with experience operating modern office machinery is required.

  5. Must have ability to operate office equipment (copiers, fax machines, telephone, computers, scanners, shredders).

Selection Process

Entry Requirements
All applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
  • a.)  Be a Nigerian as defined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  • b.)  Be a male or female  between the ages of 24 and 29.
  • c.)  Possess at least a first degree of not less than Second Class Lower Division or HND of not less than Lower Credit in the arts, sciences or humanities from any recognized University or Polytechnic as the case may be.
  • d.)  Measure at least 1.68m (for male) and 1.65m (for female) in height.
  • e.)  Be medically and physically fit.
  • f.)   Applicants (less serving members of the Armed Forces) must possess NYSC discharge certificate or a valid exemption as the case may be.
  • g.)  Possess valid birth certificate endorsed by the National Population Commission, hospital or local government council of birth or valid age declaration.
  • h.)  Possess a valid certificate of state of origin.
  • i.)   Must not have been convicted by any competent court of law.
  • j.)   Be recommended by at least 2 recognizable referees who must attest to the applicant’s character and integrity.  Serving military personnel must be recommended by their commanding officers.


Conditions of Service
SSC will be granted for 10 years.  Six years will be on active list renewable         thereafter for a period up to 3 years.  No extension would be granted after the ninth year of commission except on conversion to regular combatant     where applicable.
  • a.)  Officer cadets who successfully complete the military training shall be granted the rank of Second Lieutenant.
  • b.)  Conversion to regular commission is not automatic.  It is based on availability of vacancy and other criteria that are or will be in force from time to time.
  • c.)   All graduating officer cadets must sign an acceptance of the terms and conditions governing the Short Service Combatant Commission before they are granted commission into the Nigerian Army.
  • d.)    The reckonable period of service will be based on the date of commencement of cadet training of both civilian and military personnel entrants.

Interpret survey reports and provide technical dispositions and work scopes to satisfy specifications.
Liaise with workshop personal providing support as required.
Ensure that equipment is dispositioned in accordance with current HSE legislation.

Prepare operational & maintenance procedures and engineering reports on inspection findings and justifications.
Create and review survey reports templates and standard replacement parts lists.
Monitor and progress survey reports in a timely manner whilst liaising with all other departments to ensure customer delivery schedules are adhered to.
Establish repair practices and engineering repair workscopes.
Adhere to and meet engineering workload and planning schedules.
Check and approve layout and detail drawings.
Liaise with sales and manufacturing departments providing technical support as required.
Liaise with customers and 3rd parties providing justification on survey dispositions.
Provide engineering support for the service of installed SSPE equipment and provide options for customers on refurbishment/ repair of products.
Ensure all work is conducted to the “Spirit and the Letter” and in an environmentally and safe manner.
QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:
Degree or HND/HNC Mechanical Engineering.
Pro/E / ACAD skills preferred.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, techniques and engineering design.
Basic knowledge of materials, welding and heat treatment.
Familiarity with industry standards and design codes.
Have a working knowledge of systems, procedures and other departments within the company.
Desire to provide world class service to customers by aligning global teams under the service platform.
