  • Provides advice to the field based the Construction Team and the Contractor(s) to ensure that all Marine activities are executed safely, cost effectively and to schedule, delivering safety and quality standards and promote established project objectives.
  • To interface with other parties on Marine specification and to advise and provide Input in review of bid packages to ensure the specific requirement for the Field and more specific for Nigeria. To advise on associated Marine related Contractual matters, Charter parties, Maritime Law, IMO Regulations and applicable Law.
  • Liaise with the Project SHES on Safety / Security and Marine Issues. Will provide, if/ when required, technical information to the investigation team in case of a marine incident.
  • Liaise with the Construction Execution Leads for planning and to determine their Marine requirement on a daily basis
  • Review of contractor marine operations procedures and plans on behalf of projects.
  • To advise on vessel and barge moorings and participate in the UN marine approval process for associated anchor plans.
  • Attendance offshore, when required, for advisory services related to the safe mooring and in field movement of self-propelled JUV's and multi point moored barges.
  • To provide advice to project teams on marine warranty requirements associated with offshore installation.
  • To carry out vessel Pre-hire screening and management / vessel systems audits of prospective contracted vessels.
Work Hours/ Rotation
  • Position is onshore based in the Port Harcourt area of Nigeria but may spend considerable amount of time offshore and may travel within Nigeria or international as required
  • 6 days per week at 10hrs per day onshore i.e. Mondays through Saturdays. Work on Sundays may be required but must be pre-approved
  • 12 hour work day while offshore
  • 8 week by 2 week rotation is standard, negotiable up to equal rotation.
Requirements
  • Degree - BS/MS in Nautical Science/Marine Transportation and / or Class 1 master mariners CoC (STCW ii/2)
  • 15-20 years of experience including a minimum of 2 years of service as Master or 15-20 years of experience including a minimum of 5 years as Chief Officer on AHT's with multi point mooring experience.  
  • Full unlimited DP certificate with 5000+ desk hours as senior DPO strongly preferred
  • Experience on heavy lift / DSV / Towing / Jack up vessels / DP or shore management of offshore vessel operations would be an advantage.

Job description

Our client, a major Operator currently building a world class fabrication yard in Lagos, Nigeria, is seeking to hire Logistics Supervisors who shall be responsible for planning and directing the Supply Chain encompassing purchasing, inventory control, warehousing, shipping and distribution operations of the company.
As Logistics Supervisor , you will have an opportunity to supervise personnel engaged in ensuring parts are received, processed, packaged, stored, picked and delivered to manufacturing operations in an efficient, safe, timely manner meeting company standards and specifications.The job is also responsible for continuously improved processes by establishing standards, policies and practices related to area quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc.
Responsibilities
  • Supervises the material receiving & distribution processes and ensure the inventory record accuracy.
  • Determines processing needs to assure adequate tooling and equipment are provided and daily maintenance is implemented.
  • Manages the material flow to the production floor and ensures material distribution in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Determines material handling work priorities on a daily basis to meet the production requirements.
  • Schedules and manages the on-job training of the new hires and ensure effectiveness.
  • Manages the area employees’ compliance of established safety standards, policy and practices to ensure safety operation.
  • Manages the area expense within the budgeted amounts.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Logistics Professional
  • Project experience from the oil & gas or mining industry
  • Prior experience in SAP (or equivalent) system application, operation planning and manufacturing is preferable.
  • Excellent problem solving, organisation and planning skills honed through years as a logistics professional working at all stages of the project from exploration through to production
  • Minimum of Bachelors’ Degree (Business management, operations management, materials management, international business)
  • Understanding of budgeting process, accounting, standards, policies and law, and information systems.
  • Proven leadership experience ideally in a logistics/manufacturing role in the Oil and Gas industry
