Major Owner Operator needs a Marine Advisor
- Provide advice and support on offshore vessel operations issues to all projects planned and currently in development for the Nigerian Projects Organization (NPO), the projects department.
- To liaise with the Upstream Nigeria (UN) Marine for all required approvals and input for the above execution groups to carry out their works without delay.
- To advise projects on company marine practices, approved work procedures/plans and adherence to Specific Marine requirements in particular to the UN Marine manuals and company practices.
- To advise the project personnel, inclusive of Engineers, Construction Supervisors, Safety Officers, and others who are assigned to projects in matters related to Marine, Heavy lifts, safe working practices, risk assessments and other Marine associated topics.
- Provides advice to the field based the Construction Team and the Contractor(s) to ensure that all Marine activities are executed safely, cost effectively and to schedule, delivering safety and quality standards and promote established project objectives.
- To interface with other parties on Marine specification and to advise and provide Input in review of bid packages to ensure the specific requirement for the Field and more specific for Nigeria. To advise on associated Marine related Contractual matters, Charter parties, Maritime Law, IMO Regulations and applicable Law.
- Liaise with the Project SHES on Safety / Security and Marine Issues. Will provide, if/ when required, technical information to the investigation team in case of a marine incident.
- Liaise with the Construction Execution Leads for planning and to determine their Marine requirement on a daily basis
- Review of contractor marine operations procedures and plans on behalf of projects.
- To advise on vessel and barge moorings and participate in the UN marine approval process for associated anchor plans.
- Attendance offshore, when required, for advisory services related to the safe mooring and in field movement of self-propelled JUV's and multi point moored barges.
- To provide advice to project teams on marine warranty requirements associated with offshore installation.
- To carry out vessel Pre-hire screening and management / vessel systems audits of prospective contracted vessels.
- Position is onshore based in the Port Harcourt area of Nigeria but may spend considerable amount of time offshore and may travel within Nigeria or international as required
- 6 days per week at 10hrs per day onshore i.e. Mondays through Saturdays. Work on Sundays may be required but must be pre-approved
- 12 hour work day while offshore
- 8 week by 2 week rotation is standard, negotiable up to equal rotation.
- Degree - BS/MS in Nautical Science/Marine Transportation and / or Class 1 master mariners CoC (STCW ii/2)
- 15-20 years of experience including a minimum of 2 years of service as Master or 15-20 years of experience including a minimum of 5 years as Chief Officer on AHT's with multi point mooring experience.
- Full unlimited DP certificate with 5000+ desk hours as senior DPO strongly preferred
- Experience on heavy lift / DSV / Towing / Jack up vessels / DP or shore management of offshore vessel operations would be an advantage.

Develop and execute a social media plan for Maersk Nigeria including use of Facebook and Twitter
Drive performance management in the cluster for both Maersk Line and Safmarine, including the use of, and ongoing improvement of country scorecards
Be overall TNM responsible for the Sales Toolbox and salesforce.com including
Write and develop email marketing messages for campaigns of specific trades
Identifying and promoting local differentiators (dual branded).
Creating local collateral tassist sales at origin and destination in Value Selling efforts (dual branded)
Develop reference stories tsupport the Sales team in Value Selling Process
Provide commercial guidance and direction tthe Nigeria sales organization in conjunction with the priorities agreed with the CEN TNM function
Responsible for making sure the local content on www.maerskline.com is up-to-date and promoting Maersk Line/ Safmarine services in Nigeria, and actively drive the use of this page through the Sales and Customer Care teams
Responsible for the TNM pages of the CWA Enable site are properly updated and ensuring internal promotion with origins
Develop and maintain a detailed competition overview of shipping lines calling Nigeria
Coordinate customer focus groups and voice of customer projects in coordination with other Maersk Nigeria functions
Manage miscellaneous marketing related activities including
Provide support for event management
Be responsible for branding related activities in Nigeria
Coordinate ordering of giveaways and other promotional items
Ensure best practice sharing with the TNM functions in the cluster countries
Provide assistance to the Cluster Trade and Marketing Manager on specific projects when needed
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
3-4 years work experience preferably in Marketing, Advertising or related field.
Excellent English writing and editing skills
Creative mindset
Strong MS Office skills
Strong customer focus both for internal and external customers
Strong communications and presentation skills
Quantitative analytical skills.
Possess stakeholder management skills (to perate both vertically as well as horizontally in an organization)

Shipping industry experience preferred
